Jules Destrooper relaunches the Paris wafers !
Bericht van 08-05-2007
Fire halts production.
24/08/2005. A date in the history of biscuit maker Jules Destrooper that will be earmarked as a black day on which production of the “Paris wafers” grounded to a halt. At Lo, an intense fire broke out at 1 am, destroying, among other things, the entire production line of the popular biscuits, at a time when production was peaking because of the holiday season. At that very moment existing stocks were quite insufficient to meet rampant demand, so that the “Paris wafers” disappeared from the shelves…
West Flemish preservation.
There was, however, no time for moaning. With an unshakable resolve to turn trying times into new opportunities, all-out efforts were made to rebuild the factory and relaunch those coveted wafers. The advanced level of professionalisation of what used to be a traditional manual manufacturing method, without detracting from the pure flavour, the authentic recipe and the quality of the ingredients, will probably forever remain one of the key characteristics of Jules Destrooper.
Meanwhile, the new production line is up and running.
Paris wafers find their way back to the consumer.
Obviously, the absence of the “Paris wafers” did not go unnoticed. Their absence could to some extent be compensated by the other biscuits from the extensive Jules Destrooper product line, but those who were particularly keen on the “Paris wafers” were left in the cold. As such, the relaunch will be a joyous occasion not only for Jules Destrooper, but also for its vast clientele. We have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that all points of sales will again be supplied with “Paris waffles” as from mid-April.
An unparalleled recipe.
Even though the wafers are now produced in a brand new baking oven, the ultimate goal has always been to preserve the traditional and unique flavour of the original recipe. In this respect, the craftsmanship within the industrial bakery has passed the test with flying colours. It looks as if the “Paris wafers” are now well and truly ready to conquer the world. We are even looking beyond the 65 countries to which we are currently exporting.
Set for another 120 years?
The recent investments are part of a structured vision of the future that should lead to further expansion, both nationally and internationally. Jules Destrooper is therefore optimistic about the future and determined to consolidate and further strengthen its position as a premium product supplier.
